Experience

I'm an experienced VCE and high school tutor and have much experience tutoring students from a wide range of backgrounds. Subjects I currently teach include Year 12 Chemistry, Biology and English as well as secondary math, science and English. I have additional experience tutoring students from primary to Year 12 through the Friday Night School program from 2008 to 2013. The program involves tutoring and assisting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as recent migrants and refugees. I completed VCE in 2013 with an ATAR of 99. As a high performing student, I was top of our school cohort in both Biology and Chemistry. I am open-minded to various methods of learning and value the importance of understanding the content, just as much as reaching the answer. Having had multiple leadership roles, responsibilities and co-curricular activities whilst undergoing my studies, I had to remain highly organised and motivated. I am able to advise students in ways to approach their organisation and study habits. I enjoy working with young people and have been actively involved in youth community programs, Youth Affairs and children's camps. My aim as a tutor is to engage with all my students and ensure they achieve their full potential. To help face the challenge of year 12, I endeavour to make content interesting and accessible, whilst promoting a thorough understanding of the complexities of my students' studies. I challenge my students with exam style questions and equip them with the proper study skills, notes and exam technique to approach their exams effectively and efficiently. I value the feedback and interactions with my students as it enables me to cater specifically to their needs. I have a current Working With Children Check, Level 2 First Aid and CPR.

I'm frequently engaged in community and volunteer activities, including leading the Edmund Rice children's camps. One of my passions is youth affairs. I have always fought for the voice of young people in the community. I've worked heavily in both local and state government, being part of law reform bodies including the Involve Committee for the Victorian government. My interests lie in sciences, particularly biology. Currently, I am completing research work in the field of Gastroenterology in approaches to altering the gut micro biome.
